Phnom penh: H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Ms. Maha Damaj, the newly appointed Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to Cambodia, at the ministry on Tuesday morning. The meeting marked Ms. Damaj's presentation of credentials and set the stage for renewed collaboration between Cambodia and UNICEF.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Prak Sokhonn extended warm congratulations to Ms. Maha Damaj on her new role, assuring her of the Royal Government of Cambodia's full support and cooperation during her tenure. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the more than seven-decade-long partnership between Cambodia and UNICEF, acknowledging UNICEF's ongoing efforts to enhance the rights, protection, and development of Cambodian children.

The meeting focused on the implementation of UNICEF's Country Programme 2024-2028, emphasizing key areas such as health and nutrition, quality education, child protection, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), along with child-sensitive public financing. These priorities align with Cambodia's goals to strengthen human capital and promote inclusive development.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to furthering cooperation in promoting children's rights, expanding access to quality education and health services, enhancing child protection systems, and mobilizing resources to improve the lives of Cambodian children.
