Phnom penh: Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received newly appointed Ambassador of Uruguay to Cambodia H.E. Diego Pelufo Acosta y Lara and Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Cambodia H.E. Akbar Ghasemi Aliabadi.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the separate meetings took place on Sept. 9 at the Senate's Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh, where the two new diplomats presented their Letters of Credence. H.E. Diego Pelufo Acosta y Lara expressed his commitment to strengthening and developing bilateral relations between Cambodia and Uruguay, expressing his pride in serving as his country's ambassador to Cambodia.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the Uruguayan Ambassador's commitment, emphasizing the importance of further enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries. He noted that despite the geographical distance, Cambodia and Uruguay have significant potential to expand cooperation, particularly in trade, economic relations, and investment, which are crucial components of their bilateral ties.

During the meeting with the Iranian Ambassador, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, on behalf of His Majesty the King of Cambodia, extended a warm welcome and congratulations to H.E. Akbar Ghasemi Aliabadi on his appointment. The Acting Head of State expressed hope that the Ambassador would contribute to further strengthening Cambodia-Iran relations during his tenure.

H.E. Akbar Ghasemi Aliabadi highlighted the importance of fostering more dynamic and progressive bilateral relations between Cambodia and Iran. Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his desire to expand trade and economic ties, particularly cooperation in the agricultural sector, between the two nations.

At the conclusion of the meetings, the Cambodian Acting Head of State wished the two newly accredited Ambassadors success in their diplomatic missions in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
