Battambang: The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) has announced a new partnership with the private sector to stabilise rice prices for farmers in the northwestern region of Cambodia. The collaboration aims to provide economic relief and support to local rice farmers facing fluctuating market prices. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the ministry and Cambodian Green (CG), a leading rice miller and exporter based in Battambang province, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on October 30. The signing ceremony was attended by MAFF Minister H.E. Dith Tina, who emphasized the importance of this partnership in reducing costs and increasing profits for both farmers and consumers. Farmers in the northwest provinces of Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Preah Vihear, and Siem Reap are expected to benefit from this initiative. The agreement is seen as a strategic move to stabilise the rice sector in the region, ensuring a more predictable and sustainable income for those involved in rice production. In addition to the rice price stabilisation initiative, the ministry also entered into another MoU with WWF to collaborate on dolphin conservation efforts. The minister expressed appreciation for the joint efforts of partner organisations and local authorities, highlighting the crucial role of local communities in protecting natural resources.
