Cuba Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthen Ties with Laos

Havana:The Cuban Foreign Ministry has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to continue consolidating the historic ties of cooperation with Laos, marking 52 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, official ties between Cuba and Laos were established in 1974. However, the relationship dates back to the 1960s when a representative office of the Lao Patriotic Front was operating in Havana, which was elevated to embassy status in 1965.

The enduring bilateral collaboration primarily focuses on the health, education, and sports sectors. As part of this cooperation, numerous Cuban doctors, nurses, and health technicians have provided services in Laos, while young Laotians have traveled to Cuba to train in these specialties. They have also engaged in studies at pedagogical institutes, the International School of Physical Education and Sports, and pursued technical careers.
