Joint Committee Condemns Fake News on Border Demarcation

The Joint Committee on Border Affairs has completely turned down an ill-willed post on the Cambodia SUNTV Facebook page saying "Vietnam demarcates border post into Cambodian territory".

The objection was issued in a statement by the Joint Committee on Border Affairs on July 14, calling on the public not to disseminate the misleading and groundless post.

Published on July 9, the post of fake news was aimed at inciting the public for political advantage as Cambodia's 7th general election is nearing.

According to the statement, the Royal Government of Cambodia, under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has been cooperating well with all neighbouring countries on border demarcation, maintaining the 181,035 square kilometres of territory of Cambodia.

The joint committee has also urged competent authorities to investigate, prevent, and take legal action against the misinformation.
