New york: Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will lead a high-level delegation to attend the UN Security Council High-Level Open Debate, to be held on May 26 in New York, the United States of America.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting is convened by China in its capacity as the rotating President of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The high-level meeting will be conducted under the theme "Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the UN-Centred International System."
A press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation states that the debate will be chaired by H.E. WANG YI, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. H.E. WANG YI will also deliver the opening remarks at the session.
While in New York, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn is expected to participate in related side events. He will also hold separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other countries. These meetings aim to further strengthen bilateral relations, advance cooperation, and exchange views on various issues of mutual interest and common concern.
