Geneva:Cambodia has reiterated its dedication to human rights dialogue and cooperation with the UN Special Rapporteur, alongside advocating for attention to the human-rights impacts of its border conflict with Thailand.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Ambassador Ke Sovann announced at the UN Human Rights Council session that Cambodia appreciated the rapporteur's report and underscored the importance of reflecting both challenges and progress in human rights discussions. Cambodia welcomed acknowledgment of its achievements, emphasizing the need for a balanced representation.
The Ambassador highlighted the critical human-rights issues stemming from the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict, noting that 650,000 Cambodians had been displaced in December 2025, with over 20,000 still unable to return. He supported calls for both nations to facilitate the return of displaced individuals, asserting their legal right to return.
Cambodia also urged the full implementation of a joint statement regarding the safe return and livelihood restoration of affected civilians. Addressing online scams, Ambassador Sovann detailed Cambodia's intensified efforts in law enforcement and international collaboration, resulting in significant legal actions and victim rescues.
