Kampong Speu:The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Cambodia-Korea Alumni Association (CAMKAA) recently organized a two-day workshop to assess CAMKAA's achievements in 2026 and to establish a work plan for 2027. This event took place from October 5 to 6 at the Cambodia-Korea Rural Development Centre.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the workshop, themed '2026 Work Achievements and 2027 Work Plan,' gathered seven CAMKAA board members and two KOICA representatives. They reviewed the activities implemented in 2026, evaluated progress and challenges, and discussed priorities for the coming year.
The event was led by H.E. Im Sour, President of CAMKAA and Deputy Secretary General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, along with CAMKAA board members and KOICA representatives. During the workshop, Ms. Lay Neary presented a report on CAMKAA's major activities, including environmental initiatives, a seminar on digital technology and innovation with the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, and the annual Cambodia-Korea Alumni Reunion.
Discussions focused on improving the effectiveness, participation, and sustainability of these activities. Participants also looked ahead to 2027, identifying priority areas and potential joint activities to enhance CAMKAA's role in connecting Cambodian and Korean alumni.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Im Sour emphasized the alumni network's crucial role in strengthening bilateral cooperation and contributing to community development. He highlighted the workshop as an opportunity to review progress, address challenges, and set a strategic direction for the future, especially as Cambodia and Korea approach the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
KOICA representatives reiterated their support for CAMKAA, emphasizing the value of alumni applying their knowledge from Korea-related programs to their professional and community activities in Cambodia.
The workshop concluded with the finalization of the 2027 Joint Work Plan, with commitments from KOICA and CAMKAA to strengthen the alumni network and promote cooperation and friendship between Cambodia and Korea. CAMKAA, a non-political and non-profit organization founded in 2002, supports over 3,370 alumni and officials across various sectors, fostering professional networking and cooperation between the two countries.
