Phnom penh: Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), engaged in discussions with Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping in Beijing. The talks reiterated the two nations' dedication to enhancing their ironclad friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Techo's Spokesperson, H.E. Chea Thyrith, reported that President Xi expressed satisfaction with the robust relationship between Cambodia and China. He described the bilateral ties as being particularly strong and recalled his state visit to Cambodia in 2025, which had further solidified cooperation and the building of a Cambodia-China community with a shared future.
Samdech Techo expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended by President Xi and the Chinese delegation. He affirmed the enduring nature of the Cambodia-China friendship, underscoring China's role as a genuine and trusted ally to the Cambodian people.
The dialogue between the two leaders included discussions on enhancing economic and infrastructure cooperation. Samdech Techo requested further Chinese support for Cambodia's infrastructure projects, highlighting the significant contribution of Chinese cooperation to Cambodia's economic progress and modernisation.
Additionally, the leaders discussed expanding security cooperation, enhancing information sharing, and promoting high-level delegation exchanges. Both nations also emphasized the importance of party-to-party cooperation, with plans for the Cambodian People's Party and the Communist Party of China to sign a memorandum of understanding aimed at advancing political dialogue and the development of young party cadres.
Furthermore, the leaders shared perspectives on regional and international issues, emphasizing the need for increased coordination and mutual support in response to rapid global changes.
