Vice FM to visit Kenya, Mauritius, UAE this week

First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Hong-kyun will visit Kenya and Mauritius this week as a special presidential envoy for an upcoming summit with African nations set for later this year, the foreign ministry said Monday. Kim will make a four-day trip to the two African countries starting Monday through Thursday, before flying to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday, the ministry said in a release. In Kenya and Mauritius, Kim will relay the government's expectations for the leaders of the two countries to attend the South Korea-Africa summit in Seoul, set for June 4-5, and hold consultations with officials there about the summit. While in the UAE, Kim will meet with government officials and discuss bilateral relations, including implementing measures in the follow up to the leaders' summit that took place in January last year, Seoul's ministry said.
