JOHOR BAHRU, The Southern Zone MADANI Rakyat 2024 programme at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) concluded with a record attendance of 220,048 visitors over its three-day show.
Ministry of Economy senior undersecretary (management) Dr Nor Azlina Ariffin, said this figure surpassed the target of 100,000, with the turnout surging on Friday and Saturday.
“The value of the MADANI sales, in four categories, amounted to RM800,000, while there were 41 successful business matching with 22 companies, generating a potential sales value of RM3.8 million,” she told Bernama.
She also expressed gratitude to all parties involved in the success of the programme, including the state governments of Melaka, Johor and Negeri Sembilan.
The Southern Zone MADANI Rakyat 2024 programme was organised by the Prime Minister’s Office through the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) in strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and the Johor government.
With 34 booths set up by ministries, government agencie
s and state agencies, the programme offered 175 direct services specifically for the public, particularly in the southern zone covering Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.
Visitors had the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities until 6 pm, such as health services, tree seedling distribution, business matching, a petting zoo, horse riding activities, fishing competitions, e-sports tournaments, remote control car races and a five-kilometre fun run.
Besides getting the chance to enter lucky draws at the ministry booths, visitors also enjoyed craft demonstrations, cultural performances and exhibitions of government assets by four agencies, as well as explore 2,125 job vacancies offered by 21 employers at the MyFuture Jobs Career Carnival.
