Phnom penh: Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, highlighted the significance of March 3 National Culture Day as an occasion for Cambodians to reflect on their rich artistic and cultural heritage, passed down through generations by Khmer ancestors.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in a message shared on social media, Samdech Techo Hun Sen extended his congratulations on the 28th National Culture Day, which is celebrated under the theme 'Youth for National Culture.' He emphasized that the day is an important reminder for Cambodians to embrace and cherish their cultural and civilizational heritage.
This day aims to inspire the younger generation and the nation to cultivate a deep sense of love and responsibility for preserving and promoting ancestral cultural values. Samdech Techo underlined the importance of the saying, 'When culture disappears, the nation fades; when culture flourishes, the nation prospers,' to stress the role of culture in national prosperity.
The Cambodian leader noted that National Culture Day encourages youth and the general public to uphold national identity and unity by safeguarding and promoting Cambodia's cultural and traditional values. This initiative was formalized by the Royal Government of Cambodia, which designated March 3 as National Culture Day through a sub-decree on January 24, 2006.
Moreover, National Culture Day provides an opportunity to foster patriotism and a collective sense of responsibility in preserving, protecting, and promoting Cambodia's cultural heritage. These cultural assets are crucial for the national identity of Khmer people and contribute significantly to the country's socio-economic development.
