Phnom penh: The Royal Government of Cambodia remains fully committed to achieving its "Vision 2050" goals despite major regional challenges, a senior official said Friday on the third anniversary of the administration led by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, speaking at the ninth Royal Government Press Forum marking the milestone, H.E. Pen Bona, Delegate Minister attached to the Prime Minister and Head of the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, acknowledged that the seventh-mandate government has faced significant hurdles, notably military incursions along the border by Thai forces.

H.E. Pen Bona outlined five key pillars defining the Royal Government's strategic response. First, self-defence and sovereignty were highlighted, with military responses strictly being measures of self-defence aimed at protecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity against foreign aggression.

Proactive diplomacy was another significant pillar, where armed conflict was swiftly shifted toward diplomatic resolution through active international engagement. Strong responses from peace-loving nations, including the United States, China, and Malaysia in its capacity as ASEAN Chair, helped secure two ceasefires.

The management of displaced persons was also addressed. The Royal Government moved rapidly to manage the displacement of over 640,000 citizens. Currently, under 20,000 displaced residents remain in temporary shelters, receiving continued state support until safe return is possible.

Adherence to international law was emphasized as the government maintained a mature diplomatic stance aligned with the international community, prioritizing peaceful negotiation through existing bilateral mechanisms and international legal frameworks.

Finally, national solidarity was stressed, with the spokesperson noting that despite psychological warfare intended to sow division, broad domestic unity remains intact to protect peace, sovereignty, and displaced civilians.

The spokesperson emphasized that solid public support, coupled with dynamic diplomacy and a strong defence foundation, continues to drive steady progress toward resolving border issues and national development goals.
