Phnom penh: The ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia (AOT-KH), led by the Head of Mission from the Philippines, continued their mission on Thursday to observe, verify, and report on conditions at the Stung Bot International Border Checkpoint in Banteay Meanchey province. This activity follows the implementation of a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the field visit was coordinated by the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG) and took place at 10:25 a.m. The checkpoint is situated in Stung Bot village, Phsar Kandal district, Poipet municipality. The mission's primary aim is to verify the ceasefire's implementation and contribute to transparency and mutual trust, while also protecting civilian lives and supporting efforts toward rapid recovery, a return to normalcy, and lasting peace and stability.
The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia have reiterated their commitment to fully respect and implement the agreements outlined in the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee on December 27, 2025, and the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025.
Cambodia has stressed that its commitment to these agreements will help ensure rapid recovery, restore normalcy, and promote long-lasting peace and stability along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
