Phnom Penh:Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has expressed criticism towards Cambodian opposition politicians residing abroad, accusing them of repeatedly alleging that the Royal Government has lost Cambodian territory along the Cambodia-Thailand border without providing clear evidence or supporting documents.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister raised questions about the opposition group's silence following reports in Thai media. These reports indicated that Thailand's unilateral construction of a concrete border fence between boundary markers No. 52 and No. 59 had resulted in dozens of Thai families being unable to continue farming land on the Cambodian side of the border.
The Prime Minister noted that the opposition group has consistently accused the Royal Government of losing territory due to temporary border markers and Thailand's fence construction, despite a lack of evidence. He highlighted that the group often relies on information from Thai media to support their claims against the government. Recent reports from Thai media mentioned that 66 Thai families, who previously farmed 863 rai of land, equivalent to 138 hectares, were affected by the fence's construction.
Further questioning the opposition's credibility, Prime Minister Hun Manet criticized their continued allegations against the government without clear evidence, while they remained silent on reports that were substantiated by evidence and documentation.
