The Angkor Archaeological Park attracted 115,532 international visitors in January, a year-on-year increase by 49.20 percent, earning nearly US$5.5 million, up almost 51 percent. The figures were shared by the state-owned Angkor Enterprise in charge of Angkor income management in a news release AKP received this afternoon. Some US$230,000 of the total revenue from the ticket sales in January was donated to Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation to support the humanitarian activities of Kantha Bopha Children's Hospitals. The Angkor Archeological Park, inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in 1992, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Cambodia. Covering an area of 401 square kilometres in northwest Siem Reap province, the park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire from the 9th to the 15th centuries, and it consists of scores of key temples such as the Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Prohm, Chau Say Tevoda and Ta Keo, among others.
