Newly Appointed Cambodian Ambassadors Vow to Enhance National Prestige

Phnom Penh: Newly appointed Cambodian Ambassadors are committed to working hard to further promote the national prestige as well as strengthen cooperation with their respective host countries. The commitment was made during a courtesy meeting here at the National Assembly Palace on Monday between Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly, with four newly appointed ambassadors prior to their departure for diplomatic missions.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Khuon Sudary emphasized that ambassadors on diplomatic missions abroad represent not only the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but also the nation, the King, and the entire Cambodian people. She stated that diplomatic missions are a noble task that must protect the country’s interests and enhance its prestige on the international stage.

The four newly appointed Cambodian ambassadors bidding farewell to Samdech Khuon Sudary were H.E. Mr. Chea Chanboribo, Ambassador to Bulgaria and other European countries; H.E. Mrs. Kimsour Sovannary, Ambassador to Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg; H.E. Mr. Chey Ratha, Ambassador to Brunei; and H.E. Mr. Sin Saream, Ambassador to the Philippines.

Samdech Khuon Sudary expressed her great joy and congratulations, on behalf of the National Assembly, to the ambassadors entrusted by the Royal Government of the 7th legislature of the National Assembly, under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet. She reiterated the commitment to continue the mission of Samdech Techo Hun Sen in developing and improving citizens’ living standards, especially to achieve the 2030 goal of making Cambodia an upper-middle-income country and a high-income country by 2050.

She highlighted the importance of diplomats standing on the front lines, stating that diplomatic missions are vitally important, complementing domestic efforts by contributing to protecting and promoting national identity, economic growth, and national stability. In order to achieve this goal, she stressed that diplomats must closely coordinate state diplomacy, parliamentary diplomacy, economic diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy.

Samdech Khuon Sudary also noted that in addition to fulfilling diplomatic missions, ambassadors are guardians of Cambodian citizens living, studying, working, or operating businesses in their host countries. She urged diplomats to connect with citizens, preserve national identity, and widely promote national culture and traditions to the international community.

H.E. Mr. Chea Chanboribo, representing the four ambassadors, expressed his deep gratitude to Samdech Rathsaphea Thipadei for the opportunity to pay a courtesy call, bid farewell, and receive valuable recommendations. The ambassadors expressed their strong commitment to serving the people and the nation, responding to the high trust placed in them by the Prime Minister, the President of the Senate, and the President of the National Assembly.
