Phnom penh: The Embassy of Cambodia in the Republic of Korea is joining forces with Catholic Kwandong University International St. Mary's Hospital in Incheon to offer free health checkups for Cambodian workers residing in Korea. This initiative highlights the embassy's commitment to the well-being of its citizens abroad.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the collaboration was solidified during a meeting last weekend between H.E. Khuon Phon Rattanak, the Cambodian Ambassador to South Korea, and Dr. Dong-Hyung Go, the President of Catholic Kwandong University International St. Mary's Hospital. The discussions revolved around leveraging Official Development Assistance (ODA) from the Korean Government to boost the capabilities of Cambodian healthcare professionals.

The proposed endeavors include scholarships, advanced healthcare training adhering to Korean standards, and collaborative medical research projects between Cambodia and Korea. These initiatives aim to enhance the skills of Cambodian doctors and medical students, fostering a robust healthcare partnership.

Moreover, the meeting underscored the importance of regular free health checkups for Cambodian citizens in Korea, further strengthening the ties between the Cambodian Embassy and the hospital. This partnership is seen as a step towards improved healthcare access for the Cambodian community.

The discussions also touched on the potential drafting of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a structured framework for ongoing collaboration in human resource development and other healthcare-related programs.
