NA President Bids Farewell to Hungarian Ambassador in Phnom Penh

Phnom penh: Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, received a farewell courtesy call from H.E. Tibor Baloghdi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Cambodia.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of Cambodia-Hungary relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and parliamentary ties for the mutual benefit of the two countries and peoples.

Samdech Khuon Sudary highlighted the longstanding friendship and partnership between Cambodia and Hungary, noting that relations have continued to deepen based on mutual trust, respect, understanding, and support. She commended Ambassador Tibor Baloghdi and his team for their efforts in expanding cooperation in sectors such as legislative and executive collaboration, as well as people-to-people exchanges.

She recalled her official visit to Hungary in 2025, describing it as a memorable experience that reflected the strong friendship and trust between the two countries. She expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to the Cambodian delegation.

The National Assembly President emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in water resource management, food security, and agriculture. She also stressed the symbolic significance of connecting the Danube and Mekong rivers as part of sustainable development cooperation. Additionally, Samdech recalled her experience studying in Hungary during the 1980s and the lasting impression of hospitality that contributed to strengthening people-to-people ties.

Ambassador Tibor Baloghdi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in Cambodia and was pleased with the progress achieved in bilateral and parliamentary relations, especially after Samdech Khuon Sudary's visit to Hungary. He highlighted education and academic exchanges as key pillars of bilateral relations and welcomed the increasing number of Cambodian students studying in Hungary, while hoping for more Hungarian students to study in Cambodia.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and agreed to collaborate closely in commemorating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Hungary in 2026.
