Phnom penh: Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, met with H.E. Le Minh Hung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, on Tuesday afternoon. The meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to advance economic cooperation, investment, connectivity, and implement bilateral agreements for mutual benefit. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung warmly welcomed Samdech Khuon Sudary and the Cambodian delegation, citing the visit as a testament to the enduring friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Cambodia and Viet Nam. He reassured Cambodia of Viet Nam's support under the leadership of Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, expressing confidence in Cambodia's ongoing national development. Samdech Khuon Sudary expressed appreciation for the meeting, highlighting the depth of bilateral relations based on "good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive strategic cooperation, and long-term stability." She noted that these ties have enabled both countries to navigate challenges and opportunities together. To further strengthen bilateral cooperation, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung encouraged more high-level exchanges and closer institutional collaboration. He reiterated Viet Nam's support for Cambodia's efforts to bolster small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), attract Vietnamese investment, and implement bilateral agreements. He also thanked Cambodia for its cooperation in the search for and repatriation of Vietnamese soldiers' remains. Samdech Khuon Sudary briefed the Prime Minister on her meetings with Viet Nam's General Secretary and State President and the Chairman of the National Assembly, emphasizing their shared commitment to deepen cooperation at legislative and executive levels. She welcomed the outcomes of the June 2026 meeting between Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung a s a step towards expanding cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, security, and people-to-people exchanges. Encouraging Vietnamese investment and tourism, Samdech Khuon Sudary reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to a favourable investment environment and urged Viet Nam to explore opportunities in agriculture, education, technology, and innovation. Both nations aim to raise bilateral trade to US$20 billion, with current trade expected to exceed US$12 billion in 2026. The leaders also discussed human resource development, with Samdech Khuon Sudary thanking Viet Nam for scholarships and training for Cambodians. They agreed on the importance of cooperation in combating transnational crimes, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, and online scams. Despite challenges, Samdech Khuon Sudary highlighted Cambodia's resilience under Prime Minister Hun Manet's leadership, focusing on human capital and national development goals. She appreciated Viet Nam's support in the peaceful settlement of the Cambodi a-Thailand border conflict and ASEAN Observer Team participation. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung affirmed Viet Nam's readiness for peaceful resolutions.
