Lao President: Laos is Fortunate to be a Neighbour of Cambodia

Laos is fortunate to be a neighbour of Cambodia, H.E. Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, told Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, during their courtesy meeting in Vientiane this morning. On the occasion, the Lao president also expressed his hope that the two countries will continue to maintain their traditional and historical relationship and work together to address challenges to make it better for the interest of the two peoples. H.E. Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith recalled his relations with former leaders and senior officials of Cambodia, and was confident that this legacy will constitute a solid foundation for the next generation to continue to further cultivate this relationship. For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet briefed H.E. President of Laos on the outcomes of his fruitful talks with his Lao counterpart H.E. Sonexay Siphandone, especially on the energy cooperation, border affairs, and the cooperation in other areas such as educa tion, connectivity, transport, construction of an expressway from Vientiane to the border with Cambodia, and the construction of a bridge across the Pov River between the Cambodian province of Preah Vihear and the Lao province of Champasak, and so on. H.E. Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith welcomed the outcomes of the bilateral summit between Cambodian and Lao Premiers on Mar. 25 and affirmed the Lao side's commitment to finding solutions to the remaining issues, to improve the relations and cooperation between the two countries.
