ALOR SETAR, Three more temporary relief centres (PPS) in Kedah have closed this evening, with the number of flood victims dropping to 609 as of 8 pm today compared to 888 people this morning. According to the Disaster Info portal of the Social Welfare Department (JKM), the three relief centres that have been closed are Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tunku Temenggung and Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Ayer Puteh in the Pendang district as well as SK Tualang in the Pokok Sena district. All the flood victims who are still in relief centres currently comprise 163 families in the Pendang district. Meanwhile, eight PPS still operating in the district are Dewan Kompleks Rakan Sukan Tanah Merah, SMK Pendang, SMK Tanah Merah, SMK Ayer Puteh Dalam, Sekolah Model Khas Bukit Jenun, SK Haji Mohamad Ariff, SK Tanah Merah and SK Syed Ibrahim. Based on the Irrigation and Drainage Department's Public Infobanjir website, as of 8 pm today, the water levels in Sungai Kedah at Jambatan Lebuhraya, Kota Setar and Sungai Anak Bukit in Taman Aman, Kota Setar as well as Sungai Laka in Kampung Padang Pasir, Kubang Pasu have exceeded the alert level.
