International Tourists Laud Cambodia’s Warm Hospitality During Odyssey Ship’s Stay

Sihanoukville:Approximately 200 international tourists from 15 different nationalities, along with about 150 crew members of the Villa Vie Odyssey cruise ship, have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia. This appreciation comes in response to the warm welcome, gracious hospitality, and essential assistance provided during the ship's stay at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the vessel encountered fuel-related difficulties that required intervention. Acting upon the recommendations of Cambodia's Prime Minister, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, along with other officials, conducted an on-site assessment of the situation. This team included H.E. Samut Sotharith, Acting Governor of Preah Sihanouk province, and H.E. Lou Kim Chhun, Chairman and CEO of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, among others.

During the visit, the delegation met with tourists and crew members to address their concerns and immediate needs. The Minister of Tourism expressed gratitude to all relevant institutions and stakeholders, highlighting the roles of H.E. Sun Chanthol and H.E. Neth Pheaktra in facilitating the support efforts. A coordination team was established to ensure the safety and comfort of every international visitor, emphasizing Cambodia's commitment to treating tourists as friends deserving of care and respect.

Tourists praised Cambodia's welcoming spirit and the country's stunning natural beauty and tourism attractions. Many explored the beaches and islands in Preah Sihanouk province and expressed intentions to return. Cambodia's response to the Odyssey recalls its humanitarian legacy, notably the welcome extended to the Westerdam cruise ship in February 2020.
