Phnom Penh:Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, has urged Cambodia and Viet Nam to intensify their efforts to boost bilateral trade, emphasizing economic cooperation and investment as key components of their relations.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the call was made during a meeting with H.E. Le Minh Hung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, at the Senate's Solidarity Palace. The meeting took place during the Vietnamese Prime Minister's official visit to Cambodia.
Senate Spokesperson H.E. Chea Thyrith stated that Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed the Vietnamese Prime Minister and expressed optimism that the visit would further strengthen the close ties between the two nations. H.E. Le Minh Hung expressed gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged the Senate President as a close friend to Viet Nam, also praising Cambodia's ongoing development and recent successful hosting of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference.
During the meeting, the Vietnamese Prime Minister briefed Samdech Techo on discussions with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in trade, economy, and investment, with the goal of increasing trade between the two countries. H.E. Le Minh Hung also stressed the significance of fostering more active cross-border trade to support economic growth in both nations.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen endorsed the Vietnamese Prime Minister's views, underscoring the importance of economic cooperation and investment in Cambodia-Viet Nam relations. He urged both governments to prioritize expanding bilateral trade and to set targets in sectors with complementary potential, which he believes will further advance their relations.
