The government held a conference Wednesday aimed at seeking international cooperation to expand the use of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology as part of efforts to achieve carbon neutrality, the foreign ministry said. The event, co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Presidential Commission on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth, brought together around 300 academics and experts, the ministry said. CCS is a process in which carbon dioxide emitted from industrial facilities is captured before it can be released into the atmosphere, then transported and stored in long-term storage sites. The conference focused on reviewing both domestic and international frameworks, including the legal and institutional systems for cross-border CCS, the ministry said.
