IPOH, The decision to implement cloud seeding, prompted by dry weather and the depletion of the Bukit Merah Dam, will be determined in a special committee meeting involving the relevant government agencies and departments. State Science, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman Teh Kok Lim, emphasised the need for technical assessments, stating that the state government must first gather insights from these departments. 'Before proceeding with cloud seeding, we must consider various factors and requirements to ensure effectiveness and cost-efficiency, thereby preventing any wastage," he told Bernama when contacted today. The special committee includes representatives from the Land and Mines Office (PTG), the Public Works Department (JKR) and the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS). Earlier, it was reported that the water levels at Bukit Merah Dam, crucial for domestic and agricultural purposes, especially in the Kerian padi fields, as well as industrial needs in Taiping, have declined following the hot weather.
