Cambodian PM Reaffirms Government’s Commitment to Supporting Citizens

Phnom penh: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has affirmed that the Royal Government will always stand with the people, regardless of the challenges faced. 'The Royal Government is with you, whether in good times or difficult times. We are always by your side, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic,' he said at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Funan Techo Integrated Water Resources Management Project - Section II, held in Takeo province this morning.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister addressed the impact of the global energy crisis on people's livelihoods, particularly amid ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. He noted that the government has implemented various measures, including tax reductions, and is continuing to consider additional step-by-step mechanisms. 'So far, the Royal Government has foregone approximately US$50 million in revenue per month. In addition, the Electricit© du Cambodge has incurred losses of up to US$35 million to prevent electricity prices from increasing,' he underlined.

The Prime Minister added that, to ensure public safety, the Royal Government and relevant institutions are closely monitoring the situation and continue to urge citizens and civil servants to remain vigilant.
