Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet received Mr. Tan Sri Nazir Razak, Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) of Malaysia, on the sidelines of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic on the evening of Oct. 9.
At the courtesy meeting, Mr. Tan Sri Nazir Razak outlined a number of initiatives to promote business and investment in the ASEAN region as he will be the chairman of ASEAN-BAC next year.
He noticed that even though Cambodia is a small country, she has high potential, especially in the field of tourism.
Mr. Tan Sri Nazir Razak also expressed his intention to boost tourism in Cambodia by promoting people-to-people connectivity regionally and globally, with the opportunity given to the private sector to be directly involved in setting new business models.
In reply, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet emphasised that the most important thing is to turn these initiatives into action and results. He stressed
the importance of harmonising the legal framework of ASEAN countries to create a favoruable environment for businesses and investors in the ASEAN region, turning the initiative to create a common securities market in ASEAN as well as promoting more private sector participation in business and investment.
The Royal Government of Cambodia has always considered the private sector as an indispensable partner in promoting socio-economic development in Cambodia, and it has set out a number of incentive measures for the private sector, providing more favourable conditions for them to function better and grow, he said.
