Cambodian Para Athlete Vet Chantha Earns 3rd Gold Medal at 12th ASEAN Para Games

Cambodian Athlete Vet Chantha this afternoon won another gold medal in women’s 200-metre T64 running at the 12th ASEAN Para Games being hosted by Cambodia.

This is the third gold medal earned by Vet Chantha, while the first one was grabbed in long jump event with a 3.99-metre distance and the second in in women’s 400-metre T44/64 running.

Cambodia thus far won six gold medals – five in Athletics and one in Women’s Wheelchair Basketball.

Cambodia is hosting the 12th ASEAN Para Games from June 3 to 9, 2023. As the host, the Kingdom deployed 252 para athletes to compete with 1,201 para athletes from other ten regional nations, including Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.

Fourteen (14) sports including Athletics, Badminton, Boccia, Chess, 5-a-side Football, 7-a-side Football, Goalball, Judo, Powerlifting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Siting Volleyball, Wheelchairs Basketball, and E-sports (Demonstration) are listed for the regional games with 431 sports events at the Morodok Techo National Stadium, National Olympic Stadium and other courts in Phnom Penh capital.

Cambodia obtained 28 medals (7 gold, 10 silver, and 11 bronze) at the 11th ASEAN Para Games in Solo, Indonesia.
