Cambodian, Chinese FMs Hold Bilateral Talks in Thailand


H.E. SOK Chenda Sophea, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, had a productive meeting with H.E. WANG Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Director of the office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s republic of China.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Ninth Mekong-Lancang Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on Aug. 15, according to a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

On the occasion, H.E. WANG Yi congratulated Cambodia on the commencement of the construction of the Funan Techo Canal, and affirmed China’s support for the project.

The two foreign ministers highly valued strong development in bilateral relations of both countries, and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in all areas.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working closely
with all Mekong countries to strengthen Mekong-Lancang cooperation, building a shared future of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development in the region.

Besides, the two Foreign Ministers also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern and interest.
