Cambodia Reaffirms Commitment to Work with CICA for Prosperity of Asia

Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) H.E. Dr. KHY Sovanratana has received a courtesy call by H.E. Ambassador Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). During the meeting held here on April 25, H.E. Dr. KHY Sovanratana highly valued the crucial roles of CICA as one of the most significant and efficient international platforms to foster peace, security and stability in Asia and beyond. He also reiterated Cambodia's efforts and commitments to work closely with CICA Secretariat and all member states to further advance the CICA process for mutual benefits and prosperity of all peoples in Asia. H.E Ambassador Kairat Sarybay lauded the fast socio-economic development of Cambodia and briefed on key achievements of CICA in 2020-2024, its ongoing transformation, and preparations for the 7th CICA Ministerial Council Meeting to be held later this year. H.E Ambassador Kairat Sarybay also ex tended his high appreciation to Cambodia for providing great support in the activities of the CICA and requested Cambodia to 1.) Encourage cooperation between the CICA Secretariat and the ASEAN Secretariat and 2.) Expedite her ratification of CICA Convention on the Privileges and Immunity of the Secretariat Personnel and Representatives of Members of CICA. While taking note of the significance of the progress of CICA, H.E. Dr. KHY Sovanratana added that relevant authorities of Cambodia have been working on the ratification process of this CICA Convention. Source: Agence Kampuchea Presse
