Pursat:The Cambodian Liaison Group facilitated the ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia (AOT-KH) on Thursday to conduct an observation, verification, and reporting mission in the O'Phlouk Damrei area of Pursat province. This mission aimed to assess the situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the mission took place at 1050 a.m. in Thmar Da commune, Veal Veng district, an area that Cambodia claims has been attacked and unlawfully occupied by Thai military forces. The mission's objective was to examine compliance with and implementation of all measures stipulated in the Joint Statement following the ceasefire's enforcement.
The statement from the Ministry of National Defence emphasized Cambodia's firm stance on protecting its international border with Thailand as established by the Indochina-Siam Boundary Commission. This position is aligned with international law, including the principle of the intangibility of inherited borders, known as Uti Possidetis Juris.
Cambodia also reaffirmed its commitment to respecting historical agreements, including the Franco-Siamese conventions, treaties, maps, and relevant documents agreed upon by both parties. It stressed that Cambodia does not recognize any border changes resulting from the use of force.
The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence reiterated their commitment to fully and faithfully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee, dated December 27, 2025, along with the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand from October 26, 2025, and all other relevant agreements.
