Cambodia and UN Agencies Commend Strong Partnership, Pledge Further Cooperation.


Phnom penh: Cambodia and UN agencies have lauded their good cooperation and been committed to further fostering their bilateral partnership. In their meeting here at the Peace Palace this morning, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and a delegation of the Executive Boards of UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS, UNICEF, UN-Women and WFP discussed the strengthening and expansion of the partnership between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the UN agencies in key areas, including health, education, training, social security, climate change, clean energy, gender equality as well as the roles of women and youth.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Muhammad Abdul Muhith, President of the Executive Board of UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS and head of the UN delegation, pledged to encourage the six UN agencies to continue supporting the development agenda of Cambodia in order to achieve the SDGs which will provide the benefits to all people and without leaving anyone behind. He added that during the visit to sev
eral provinces, the delegation noted the progress in the provision of health and education services and the participation of women and youth at local communities.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet extended welcome to the visit of the delegation in Cambodia, reflecting the strong partnership between Cambodia and the UN, which will continue to contribute to sustainable, inclusive and resilient development of the Kingdom. The visit also provided concepts and additional insights for the delegation on the socio-economic development goals of Cambodia, her achievements and the potential areas for cooperation for the benefit of the Cambodian people and nation.
