Phnom penh: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has expressed gratitude towards French President Emmanuel Macron for the warm reception and constructive dialogue aimed at enhancing the bilateral relationship between Cambodia and France.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Cambodian Prime Minister shared his appreciation through his official social media platforms, emphasizing the mutual goal of upgrading the diplomatic relations to a Strategic Partnership in the near future. He also expressed his anticipation of welcoming President Macron to Cambodia later this year for an official visit and his participation in the 20th Francophonie Summit, which Cambodia will host in November 2026.
During a press conference at Techo International Airport, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister, H.E. Jean-Fran§ois Tan, highlighted that the discussions between Samdech Thipadei and President Macron were conducted amicably. The leaders exchanged views on strengthening friendship and expanding cooperation in various sectors such as security, trade, and culture. They also concurred on maintaining global peace and stability through respect for international law and multilateralism.
H.E. Jean-Fran§ois Tan also remarked on the significance of President Macron's upcoming visit to Cambodia, noting its historic nature as only one French President, General Charles de Gaulle, has previously visited Cambodia, back in 1966.
