AKP Phnom Penh: The collected border infrastructure development fund of US$26,967,609 contributed by Cambodians from all walks of life will be used to construct a new ring road of about 250 kilometres along the Cambodian border. The plan was revealed in a news release issued by a taskforce assigned to manage the crowdfund led by H.E. Kim Bunthan, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Deputy Chief of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet, following a press conference on Nov. 1.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, based on an initial feasibility study, it will be a gravel road of seven-metre width running through Mondulkiri (147.42 kilometres) and Rattanakiri (102.58 kilometres). The assessment by Cambodia’s experienced engineering force command indicates that the construction of the road will take about 30 months, including mine clearance work of 6,250,000 square metres.
