Phnom penh: The Wrestling Federation of Cambodia (WFC) has set an ambitious goal of winning Olympic medals in wrestling at the 2036 Olympic Games, which are scheduled to be hosted by India. Mr. Casey Barnett, Vice President of the WFC, announced that the federation will further promote the sport's potential and expand wrestling programs to several provinces across Cambodia starting in 2026.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Mr. Barnett stated that the federation plans to establish large, standard training and competition halls in Phnom Penh as well as in the provinces of Pursat, Kampong Chhnang, and Kandal. Within these facilities, WFC will deploy coaches to train talented young Cambodians aged between 10 and 12, aiming to strengthen their skills and prepare them for regional and international competitions.

Mr. Barnett also mentioned that beginning in 2026, Cambodia will strengthen collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia to seek support from U.S. companies investing in the country. This support will focus on developing Cambodian athletes' potential through assistance in training, nutrition, sportswear, and equipment, as part of preparations toward the 2028 Olympic Games in the United States.
