UAE Orders 60,000 Tonnes of Milled Rice from Cambodia

The United Arab Emirate (UAE) has ordered 60,000 tonnes of Cambodian rice, and the first shipment of 500 tonnes has been made recently through ONEROAD GROUP (Cambodia) Co. Ltd. A ceremony celebrating the export of Cambodian rice to the UAE took place here late last week under the presidency of Cambodian Minister of Commerce H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul. On the occasion, H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul spoke highly of ONEROAD GROUP (Cambodia) Co. Ltd. for successfully ordering and exporting Cambodian milled rice to UAE markets, with the first shipment of 500 tonnes out of 60,000-tonne order worth US$54 million. H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul stressed that the Ministry of Commerce had continued to actively promote and fully support the export of local agricultural products, creating more job opportunities for Cambodian farmers and producers, and boosting international competitiveness for Cambodian agricultural products. She also emphasised the ministry's warm welcome to international partners who came to do business and invest in Camb odia in particular for the purpose of mutual benefits and prosperity. According to H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, the ministry would co-organise business matching forum to be held in Abu Dhabi at the end of February 2024 in order to promote and create opportunities for new markets for Cambodian milled rice. The commerce minister expressed her strong belief that there would be more orders and exports, and requested relevant ministries/institutions and partners to continue to work together to enhance and develop Cambodia's milled rice sector and reputation at international arena.
