U.S. Companies Eye Increased Investment in Cambodia Amid Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Phnom penh: More than 180 leading American companies, represented by the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), have indicated a strong interest in expanding their investment in Cambodia. This development highlights the growing confidence in Cambodia's economic potential and the improving relations between Cambodia and the U.S.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the message was conveyed by Mr. Brian D. McFeeters, President and Chief Executive Officer of the USABC, during a meeting with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia. The meeting took place at the Senate's Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh on July 21. Mr. McFeeters stated that USABC, which represents over 180 member companies, sees Cambodia as a key destination for investment opportunities within ASEAN.

Mr. McFeeters highlighted the positive progression of Cambodia-U.S. relations, which is fostering favorable conditions for enhanced business engagement. On behalf of the U.S. private sector, he reaffirmed the Council's commitment to bolstering investment in Cambodia, aiming to strengthen bilateral economic ties further.

The American business delegation visiting Cambodia sought to explore new investment opportunities and expand existing operations in the Kingdom. It included representatives from major multinational companies such as Ford, SC Johnson, and Coca-Cola, along with several other leading American firms.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the delegation, expressing satisfaction with the ongoing improvement in Cambodia-U.S. relations. He encouraged more American companies to invest in Cambodia, emphasizing that economic cooperation, trade, and investment are the foundation of bilateral relations.

He also noted that U.S. investments in Cambodia are increasingly focusing on sectors that align with the country's long-term development priorities, including logistics, healthcare, education, and technology, all contributing to innovation and sustainable economic growth. He expressed optimism about the continued expansion of trade and investment between Cambodia and the United States in the coming years.

Trade between Cambodia and the U.S. reached more than US$7.4 billion in the first half of 2026, marking a 31.4 percent increase year-on-year, according to the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia. The Council for the Development of Cambodia has identified the U.S. as one of the top ten foreign investors in the Kingdom during the first semester of 2026.
