Thousands of Bicycle Riders Join EU-Initiated Pedal for Planet

Some 2,400 bicycle riders joined "Pedal for the Planet", a collaborative initiative by the European Union Delegation to Cambodia, the Ministry of Education, and Phnom Penh City Hall to drive forward the climate action agenda through the power of cycling. This event, taking place at the National Olympic Stadium, Phnom Penh on Sunday, was part of a global movement towards sustainability, showcasing how individual efforts can collectively make a significant impact on our planet's health. "Pedal for the Planet" transforms cycling into a powerful statement for sustainability, set in the stunning Phnom Penh city of Cambodia. It's not just an event; it's a commitment to eco-friendly transport and a smaller carbon footprint, propelling us towards a greener future. Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports H.E. Vath Chamroeun in his opening remarks expressed gratitude towards the EU for fostering a partnership that encourages community engagement in environmental conservation. 'We share th e common goals, sporting activities, cultural exchanges, environmental conservation and sustainable development,' he said. H.E. Igor Driesmans, EU Ambassador to Cambodia, said that immediate actions are needed to fight against the problems facing the planet, including air pollution, water pollution and so on. 'The event is aimed to draw attention to the fact that we need to do something in order for the planet to stay healthy.
