TENGKU HASSANAL CONGRATULATES NUR SHAZRIN FOR SAILING GOLD

Pahang Regent Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has congratulated sailor Nur Shazrin Mohamad Latif for winning the country’s first gold medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.

Comptroller of the Royal Household of the Sultan of Pahang Datuk Ahmad Khirrizal Ab Rahman said Tengku Hassanal also congratulated Nur Shazrin for qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics on merit.

“Tengku Hassanal is very proud of the success achieved by the Pahang-born (Nur Shazrin), starting from representing Pahang in the Malaysia Games (Sukma) since 2012 until she was absorbed into the national team in 2017.

“Tengku Hassanal hopes Nur Shazrin’s victory can inspire national athletes to increase the contingent’s medal tally in the (2022 Asian) Games,” he said in a statement today.

Nur Shazrin, 25, from Kampung Mambang in Pekan near here, delivered Malaysia’s first gold medal at the Hangzhou Asiad when she emerged as champion of the women’s ILCA 6 sailing event on Wednesday (Sept 27).

She was also crowned Pahang Sportswoman at the 2015/2016 State Sports Awards and won the Special Olympian Award at the 2019/2020 Pahang Sports Awards.

Among Nur Shazrin’s achievements are winning the gold medal at the 2012 Sukma in Pahang and 2014 Sukma in Perlis, the gold medal at the 2015 Singapore SEA Games and representing the country at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Tokyo (Japan).
