The FELDA Palong 11 Digital Economic Centre (PEDI) in Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, which was severely damaged in last Sunday's storm, is temporarily closed for repair, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said.
In a statement today, MCMC said the PEDI operated by Telekom Malaysia (TM) suffered damage to the building structure as well as equipment inside the building as a result of the incident.
MCMC said TM has been instructed to prepare a full report on the damage to the PEDi and that repair work will be carried out immediately once the damage to the PEDi has been assessed.
"PEDi FELDA Palong 11 is temporarily closed while local communities who want to use internet services can do so at nearby PEDi FELDA Palong 5," MCMC said.
MCMC added that two of the 15 individuals who were in the PEDi during the storm sustained minor injuries, namely a woman and a child, who were taken to the hospital for medical examination.
According to MCMC, the PEDi officers and the community were at the centre to attend a training session when the storm struck.
On Sunday, heavy rain and strong winds caused severe damage to houses of residents in several areas of Jempol.
