SPM Hun Sen Encourages All Children to Keep Taking Care of Their Elderly Parents at Home

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has encouraged all children to take care of their aging parents at home, rather than sending them to Elderly Care Centre.

The Cambodian Premier made the inspiration while presiding over the inauguration ceremony of two new buildings and the graduation ceremony of some 2,000 students of the Royal Academy for Justice of Cambodia in Phnom Penh this morning.

In this regard, Samdech Techo Hun Sen meant that Cambodia should preserve her tradition and custom of respecting senior citizens, and further reiterated noble advice of Buddha that parents were gods at home.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen continued that looking after of parents at home was a part of solutions for possible future problem of the impact of population aging.

The Prime Minister addressed the solution after resumed forums between the Prime Minister, line ministries of the Royal Government of Cambodia, and foreign partner orgainsations in the Kingdom had voiced their concerns over future Cambodian population that the number of senior citizens would increase and the proportion of young people and mortality rate would decline, which Japan has experienced the said case.
