Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport May Get 1.5 Million Tourists by This Year’s End


Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI) has received some 900,000 tourists since its operation for almost a year, and is expected to welcome around 1.3 million this October and 1.5 million by the end of this year.

The information was shared here on Sept. 4 by Mr. Lu Wei, Chairman for the Board of Directors of Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. (AIAI), while he was leading a delegation from AIAI and China Energy Engineering Group Yunnan Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. to pay a courtesy call on H.E. CHEA Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) to discuss the possibility of investing in special energy zone development project.

Mr. Lu Wei added that the aforementioned project will be a solar power, biomass, wind power and energy storage.

H.E. CHEA Vuthy expressed support to the above-mentioned project, and recommended the Chinese companies to discuss in detail with the Ministry of Mine and Energy,
prior to applying to the CDC.

In May, H.E. CHEA Vuthy also received Mr. Lu Wei to discuss investment plan in the areas of solar power, tourism and agriculture.
