Samdech Techo Hun Sen: Do Not be Afraid to Rent a Plane to Evacuate Cambodian Nationals from Israel

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party and former Prime Minister of Cambodia, has recommended the Royal Government not to be afraid of spending money to rent a special plane to bring home the Cambodian nationals from Israel if the Israeli government requests for the evacuation.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen, also President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, made the recommendation at the closing ceremony of shooting of movie series "The Son under the Full Moon" held at the Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Phnom Penh this afternoon.

But, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said he does not believe that Israel will have such a request to Cambodia (evacuate Cambodian nationals).

“We have been monitoring the safety of our citizens in Israel. If the Israeli government do not require us to leave, we must not leave. If we leave Israel at a time when the country is in trouble, we do not have to ask for scholarships or apply to work in Israel anymore,” he added.

What Cambodia wants is for all parties to be patient and find a solution through dialogue and reconciliation, Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined.

There are currently about 450 Cambodians, mostly students, living and studying in Israel.

A Cambodian student has been killed during the Israel-Hamas fighting which erupted on Oct. 7, 2023, leaving hundreds of dead and wounded on both sides.
