The National Election Committee (NEC) organised here at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel this afternoon a briefing on the electoral process for the General Election, 7th Legislature, 2023.
About 270 national and international journalists participated in the event, chaired by H.E. Dim Sovannarom, a NEC member.
The briefing aims to show the real democracy in Cambodia with a focus on the electoral process for the 7th National Election, ranging from voter registration to the end of the 21-day election campaign today.
Security issue, the duty of political parties, and so on were also mentioned on the occasion.
A total of 18 political parties with 3,428 candidates will compete for the 125 seats in the National Assembly, and more than registered 9 million people will go to the polls on Sunday July 23 in 23,789 polling stations across the country.
More than 300 international observers from 65 countries came to Cambodia from July 20 to 24 to observe the 7th general elections.
