JDT Score Emphatic 3-0 Win Over Shanghai Shenhua To Register First Win In ACLE

ISKANDAR PUTERI, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) recorded their first victory in the Asian Champions League Elite (ACLE) 2024/2025 in emphatic fashion by defeating Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua FC 3-0 in their second match here tonight.

In the action that took place at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium here, the Southern Tigers squad coached by Hector Bidoglio took a comfortable lead through Arif Aiman ??Mohd Hanapi’s goal in the 11th minute.

In the 23rd minute, Shanghai Shenhua’s goal was conceded again but Oscar Arribas’ goal was disallowed immediately after the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review found that Arif Aiman ??who sent the ball was in an offside position.

However, JDT did not grieve for too long when Jorge Leonardo Obregon Rojas managed to head the ball into the visiting team’s goal in the 26th minute to make it 2-0. JDT scored the third goal through Juan Muniz Gallego’s free kick from outside the penalty box in the 80th minute.

In the first ACLE game at the Pudong Football Stadium, China on Sept 18, JDT
played to a 2-2 with Chinese champion Shanghai Port FC.

JDT is scheduled to meet South Korean club Gwangju FC in the third ACLE Group A action at Gwangju World Cup Stadium on Oct 22.

In addition to Gwangju, JDT will also face Ulsan Hyundai FC (South Korea), Shandong Taishan FC (China), Buriram United FC (Thailand), Central Coast Mariners FC (Australia) and Pohang Steelers (South Korea).

ACLE Rivals formerly known as ACL from Sept 16 to 19 Feb 2025 uses the ‘Swiss system’ format similar to the European Champions League (UCL) 2024/25.
