Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea’s biggest carmaker, said Thursday its January sales rose 1.8 percent from a year earlier helped by strong overseas demand.
Hyundai Motor sold 315,555 vehicles in January, up from 310,123 units a year earlier, the company said in a statement.
Overseas sales rose 2.8 percent on-year to 265,754 units, but domestic sales dropped 3.3 percent to 49,819 units.
The company said it sold 8,753 sedans, including 3,653 Grandeur models, in South Korea. Hyundai sales of its recreational vehicles reached 20,255 units, including 8,016 Santa Fe units.
A Hyundai official said the company will make efforts to strengthen its sales and production system to meet regional market demand and policies, enabling flexible responses to local market changes.
