Giants’ Lee Jung-hoo extends hitting streak to 11 with homer

The San Francisco Giants' rookie Lee Jung-hoo has extended his hitting streak to 11 games with his first home run at home. Lee went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored, helping the Giants beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-3 at Oracle Park in San Francisco on Saturday (local time). The South Korean center fielder led off the game with a solo shot off starter Zac Gallen, taking care of his hitting streak and tying the score at 1-1. On a 1-0 count, Lee drilled a 92.8 mph fastball and sent it 364 feet over the right field wall. It was Lee's second home run of his career and first at Oracle Park. That pushed Lee's hitting streak to 11 games -- the longest by a South Korean rookie in Major League Baseball (MLB). Previously, Kang Jung-ho of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Kim Hyun-soo of the Baltimore Orioles had hit safely in 10 straight games. Lee, who got a day off Friday, grounded out in the second and sixth innings, and lined out in the fourth before adding an RBI double in the eighth. Lee is now batting .289 with two homers and seven RBIs in 20 games. He ranks second on the Giants in batting average. Source: Yonhap News Agency
