COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign for 3 to U5-Year-Old Children Kicks Off

The nationwide vaccination campaign against the COVID-19 pandemic for the children aged 3 to under 5 years old began this morning.

According to an announcement of the Ministry of Health, China-manufactured Sinovac vaccine will be used for the campaign, and the interval between the 1st and 2nd doses is 28 days.

There are an estimated 700,000 children in the said age group in Cambodia, said Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen in a recent voice message, calling on all parents and guardians to bring their children and grandchildren for the inoculation.

Early this week, the Kingdom also started the administration of booster dose (3rd dose) for the children aged from 6 to under 12 years old, while the five-year-old children will have their 3rd jab from Mar. 11 onwards.

A report of the National Ad-hoc Commission for COVID-19 Vaccination shows that as of Feb. 12, 90.01 percent of the total population of 16 million have received the basis doses against the pandemic, while nearly 6.5 million have got the 3rd shot and more than 850,000 the 4th jab.
