Preah vihear: Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Wang Wenbin visited displaced families at the Wat Peung Angkam safety centre in Thbeng Meanchey district, Preah Vihear province, where he distributed relief supplies donated by the Chinese Embassy.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the visit, Ambassador Wang expressed his sympathy and concern for the well-being and living conditions of families who have yet to return to their homes. He emphasized that the assistance reflects the longstanding friendship and "ironclad" cooperation between Cambodia and China, aiming to help ease the immediate hardships faced by the displaced residents.

Local authorities expressed their sincere appreciation to the Chinese government and people, through Ambassador Wang and the embassy staff, for their generosity, solidarity, and continued support during this difficult time. They described the donation as another testament to the enduring Cambodia-China partnership.

Approximately 650,000 Cambodians were displaced due to the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict last year. Although a ceasefire agreement was reached on Dec. 27, 2025, more than 20,000 displaced people remain unable to return home. The situation is exacerbated by Thai military forces laying barbed wire, placing shipping containers, destroying civilian homes, and continuing the unlawful occupation of Cambodian territory. These actions constitute serious human rights violations and represent an attempt to create a fait accompli on the ground.
